Difference Between Desi Cow & Jersi cow
Why we should have Desi Cow milk instead of Holstein Friesian/Jersey cow milk? Why in last 20 years hospitals & pharmaceutical business has grown multifold? Are we ignoring something which is harmful to our health?
The answer is very simple & that is, the diet we take today is not as nutritious & pure as our ancestors were eating 50 or 100 years back. Let me start with Milk. They use to have Desi Cow Milk & today unknowingly we are taking foreign breed cow’s milk like Jersey, Holstein Friesian etc.
#What is the difference between European cows (A1 protein) & Desi Cows (A2 protein)?
It all started in year 2007 when one book got published by the name of ‘Devil in the Milk’ written by Prof. Dr Keithwood forth. In this book first time we came to know that there are two types of cows in the world. One is A1 protein European cows like Jersey, Holstein Friesian, Red den etc. & another one is A2 Protein Desi cows like Gir, Tharparkar, Sahiwal, Rathi, Gangatiri etc. As research states that A1 protein milk is harmful to our body & leads to diseases from diabetes to cancer. It weakens our immunity system & our digestion gets imbalance. If we see the main difference in both breeds are as follows:
1. Indian cows have big humps and long horns where the jersey or other European breed cows don’t have.
2. Some of the North Indian breeds such as Gir, Kankrej, Tharparkar cows have long dewlap and ears with long loose coat to cool their body. But the Jersey cow’s doesn’t have these.
3. Indian cows gives more calves during their lifetime average of more than 12 but the Jersey cows gives less calves in their lifetime.
4. The Indian calf’s takes a longer time to get impregnated generally 30-36 months, whereas the Jersey breeds calves takes 18-24 months.
5. The dung of the Indian cows contains more microbes and micro nutrients approximately 85-90% whereas the Jersey cow contains 50-60% only. Hence when the Indian cow dung is used in organic farming we gets good results within short time because of its composition.
6. Desi cow is having traces of gold in urine, as found by the Junagadh Agricultural University.
7. Now there are 33 identified species of cows in India and these are developed by nature depending on the climatic conditions, availability of fodder, way of working
etc.
8. Most importantly Desi cow has surya ketu nadi which passes through her hump and absorb all cosmic energy.
Composition of Desi Cow milk:
Desi Cow milk is a great source of Protein & Calcium. Milk has a composition of 87.1% water & 12.90% is Milk Solids. Solids being a combination of 4.90% Carbohydrates (Lactose), 3.69% Butter Fat, 3.56% Protein (casein, whey, glycoprotein), 0.75% minerals like calcium, Potassium, sodium, magnesium, zinc, copper, iron etc.
Why Beta-casein Protein is so important?
In milk 80% of total protein is casein protein, about 20% is whey protein & glycoprotein has very small traces. 30-35% of the casein (equivalent to two teaspoons in a liter of milk) is beta-casein, of which there are several varieties, determined by the genes of the cow. The most common of these variants are A1 and A2.Beta-casein is a protein with 209 amino acids chain. At its 67 th position Desi Cow has amino acid proline which is strongly bonded with a small protein called Beta casomorphine-7 (BCM-7) which prevents it from getting into the milk. On the other side European breed cows has histidine instead of proline on the 67 th position of amino acids. As histidine holds the weak bond with BCM-7 so it is easily released in the GI tract of animals & enter the human body and interact with digestive system and internal organs.
Why BCM-7 is harmful (devil in the milk):
BCM7 is known to be an opioid – a type of narcotic of which studies suggest that it can have a variety of effects like
1. It does pass into the blood of babies who were fed infant formula which led to delayed psycho-motor (brain to muscle) development.
2. It is also associated as a risk factor for type-1 diabetes, coronary heart disease, mental disorders like autism & schizophrenia because it may enter our brain through blood.
3. It may cause digestive disorders like irritable bowel syndrome or a weak gut.
